56k Connectivity

Home Communications, Inc. is proud to offer 56k connectivity to all our customers.

Our modems are using the Universal V.90 standard that all new 56k modems are using. If your modem is an X2 or K-Flex purchased prior to the adoption of the V.90 standard you may experience incompatibility problems.

Even with V.90 modems, customers living in rural areas may see slower than 56k connectivity.

Trouble
If you have trouble try adding two commas at the end of the phone number in your dial-up networking.

Still having trouble? You may need to upgrade your modem. Contact your modem manufacturer for downloads and instructions.

Don't know what type of modem you have? For Windows 95/98, follow these steps:

  • From your Start Menu, select Control Panels
  • From the Control Panels list, select Modems
  • In the Modems Control Panel, select the General tab

Please Note: Although our equipment is capable of 56k connections federal regulations limit connection speeds to 53k.
